Accessible parking spaces and the access aisles beside them have to sit on a surface no steeper than 1:48 in any direction, which is a grading job before it is a paving job: the base is built to that slope, the asphalt follows it, and the markings go on last. Sloped areas get the same treatment when a lot is resurfaced, because an overlay that follows an old, out-of-tolerance grade repeats it.
